Latin America Travel Demand: Trends and Insights, 2003 Edition

Table of Contents

TIA's Research Department has released Latin America Travel Demand: Trends and Insights, 2003 Edition. As a region, Latin America, including Mexico, generated an estimated 19 million world arrivals in 2002 (not counting Mexican arrivals to the 25 mile U.S. border zone). The United States welcomed nearly six million visitors from Latin America and Mexico in 2002 (not counting Mexican arrivals to the 25 mile U.S. border zone). Visitors from Latin America and Mexico spent more than USD $15 billion in the United States in 2002. Although arrivals to the U.S. from Latin America are expected to decline in 2003, they are expected to increase by more than three percent in 2004 and to continue to grow at that rate for the following few years. In fact, arrivals to the U.S. from some Latin American countries will reach 2000 levels sooner than most other overseas markets. The new report provides in-depth analysis of the economic and consumer environments in Latin America, with specific detail on the five top Latin American inbound markets to the U.S.: Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, and Argentina. The report offers profiles of both outbound travelers and U.S. visitors, along with travel trade analyses on these five markets. The report also includes outlooks and short-term forecasts for economic and travel trends. Released February 2004.
