TIA Mission and Objectives

Our Vision for the U.S. Travel Industry
The TIA vision for the industry has three separate but interconnected endpoints:

  • A seat at the table of government. Federal, state and local government will recognize the economic, social and cultural importance of travel and will reflect that recognition in legislation and policy development.
  • Ease of travel. Domestic and inbound international travel will be fast, efficient, hassle-free and courteous. Security will not be compromised.
  • A national destination campaign. A well funded, sustainable destination marketing campaign will reverse the decline in U.S. share of world tourism and restore our nation's economic strength and image.

Achieving this vision will require forging a unified travel industry identity and gaining support from policy makers at all levels of government. Success will benefit small and large organizations from every segment of the industry.

TIA's Mission
The mission of the Association is to represent the whole of the U.S. travel industry to promote and facilitate increased travel to and within the United States.

Objectives

  • Promote a wider understanding of travel and tourism as a major industry that contributes to the economic, cultural and social well-being of the nation.
  • Improve domestic and international travelers' experiences, including gaining access to, arriving in, traveling within, and departing the United States.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement the industry's umbrella marketing efforts to promote travel to and within the U.S.

  • Promote travel industry cohesion and provide communications forums for industry leaders.
  • Pursue and influence policies, programs and legislation that are responsive to the needs of the industry as a whole.
  • Leverage resources to develop and execute programs that benefit the travel industry.
