Patty H. Hubbard - Vice President,  National Councils

Patty H. Hubbard has served the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) since 1977, initially as Executive Assistant to the President. In 1985 she was promoted to Director, National Councils; and promoted again, in 1991, as Vice President, National Councils.

As Vice President, National Councils, Ms. Hubbard is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the operations and activities of TIA's five industry councils: the National Council of Travel Attractions; the National Council of Urban Tourism Organizations; the National Council of State Tourism Directors; the National Council of Area and Regional Tourism Organizations; and the State Travel Information Center Directors Alliance, an affiliate of the National Council of State Tourism Directors. These councils provide targeted programs and services that help to bring cohesion to their respective industry segments by providing forums for addressing common challenges and opportunities, facilitating communication and collaboration within the respective council's membership, and coordinating interaction and representation of the councils in appropriate national forums.

Ms. Hubbard is also responsible for all aspects of the annual Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations, an educational program for tourism destination marketing officials. She is also charged with planning and implementing TIA's national awards program to recognize outstanding individual leadership and organizational excellence in travel marketing and public service programs.

Ms. Hubbard works closely with a number of federal agencies, primarily the land management agencies within the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forest Service; public sector organizations such as the National Governors Association and the National Council of State Legislatures; and national cultural organizations such as the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the American Association of Museums.

Prior to joining TIA, Ms. Hubbard worked for several years for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. She is married and resides in Annandale, Virginia with her husband Ray.
