TIA Foundation Investment Opportunities

The TIA Foundation awards one-year scholarships to both graduate and undergraduate students pursuing studies in the area of travel and tourism.

Foundation scholarships fall into the following categories (all students are enrolled in travel and tourism programs):

Graduate Level: $4,000 scholarships are given to incoming graduate students and to students presently enrolled in a graduate program.

Undergraduate Level: $3,000 scholarships are given to undergraduate students.

The TIA Foundation has developed guidelines and criteria for the acceptances of "Named Scholarships" and grants made to the Foundation in the name or a person or company for the Foundation to award.

GUIDELINES

Donors may designate their gifts for a scholarship or grant that meets this criteria or a general fund that meets this criteria or a general fund which supports the goals of the Foundation. Funds given to the Foundation are tax deductible.

  • A Named Endowment , the Foundation's leadership gift, may be created with an investment of $25,000. This gift will provide an annual $3,000 scholarship for a ten-year period in the name of the donor.
  • A Named Scholarship may be created with a minimum investment of $6,000 (with additional contributions in $3,000 incremental amounts above the minimum allowed). This gift will provide one $3,000 scholarship per year for a minimum period of two years.
  • Other Gifts are welcomed and encouraged, and sponsors will receive special recognition.

CRITERIA

  • Contributions to the Named Endowment and Named Scholarship funds should be paid in full prior to the scholarship award.
  • There is no required educational level for Named Endowments or Named Scholarships . However, it is suggested that the award be at the junior-year undergraduate level or higher, marking the commitment of an undergraduate to a specific course of study.
  • The TIA Foundation Board of Directors and staff will work with each donor to ensure that each gift reflects the contributors wishes.
  • The Foundation will be responsible for ensuring a pool of qualified applicants, and a committee, chosen by the TIA Foundation Board of Directors, will be responsible for choosing the recipient based upon the selection criteria determined at the onset of the award.
