Communications Director

The Travel Industry Association, America's voice for the $700 billion travel industry and millions of travelers, is seeking a top-flight individual to lead an aggressive, "campaign-style" communications effort in Washington and beyond.  General responsibilities include day-to-day management of media activities for the association's senior leadership; crisis communications and rapid response; building and expanding relationships with national, political, and trade media; and helping to create innovative strategies to ensure that the voice of the travel industry is heard on a wide range of domestic and international issues. 

The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of successive communications experience.  Capitol Hill and/or campaign experience preferred, but not required.  Strong writing skills essential.  Specific activities may include:

  • Managing media inquiries and development of suggested messages;
  • Drafting of media-related documents, including press releases, talking points, media backgrounders and other related materials; and
  • Drafting of Board-level documents and executive communications.

Director of Research Products

TIA has an immediate opening for a Director of Research Products.  The Director will develop and produce research products such as publications, client economic and marketing research products, and online research products. This includes the opportunity to develop new products to serve the needs of TIA members.  Reporting to the VP & Chief Economist, the ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree or 8 years of experience in economics, business, quantitative research, or project management; strong writing and presentation skills; superior quantitative analysis abilities; expertise in questionnaire design and research methodology; the ability to fulfill requests for data and interpretation from members, media, and internal colleagues; advanced MS Office, statistical software, and database knowledge; and, ideally, a broad knowledge of the travel industry.
